This is my own live, impromptu version of a song written by Randy Newman, & I was inspired by the great Eric Burdons’ cover. I was breaking in the first time use of a Tascam pocketstudio, and did this on an impulse.

a Jimi Hendrix cover... I made no attempt to copy Jimi’s great guitar work, but take his influence & play it in my own way (also with a hint of Zeppelin’s “You Shook Me”). Also, what was different, even though I love to play a strat as Hendrix did, this one was played on a Gibson Les Paul for that Gibson tonality, which I also love!

Guitar & vocals by me, played over a backing track. Hope you enjoy!

Recorded by jamming over a backing track- all guitars and vocals, and arrangement by Guy. "The left channel I played clean, recording my strat thru a Vox Valvetronix, modeling a Vox AC30, a simple but clean & chiming rhythm, and l played multiple leads with my strat, using some distortion thru a Line 6, Bogner Spider Valve amp. Recorded using Garage Band on my mac." Guy

Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern Rock at its’ finest! Here is the “JamesHenry Band” cover of their southern rock classic, “Tuesday’s Gone”.

I played the guitars & Frank Henry & I did the vocals on this, recording this on my Apple studio software program- Garage Band.

Crossroads (Guy James' cover version)

Here is my cover of the great Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads”, (I had a podcast of this before, but this is the recording I was after- just made April 23rd) the song Clapton performed with Cream. Back then he was playing a Gibson ES-335, & later he became a confirmed player of the Fender Stratocaster, & is to this day.

Here is my cover of the song on my Fender Strat “Ole Blue” (my Texas guitar!) & this is the sound I think that my guitar excels at! O.K. this is a favorite of mine, and I am a confirmed huge fan of Clapton! As with most guitar covers, I don’t try to copy him per se, however I do try to capture his influence & play it with my style. In his case, I am always particularly fascinated by his tone!
Here is to the rock blues!

The Beatles- so great they get re-mastered, & re-issued albums over & over again.
Now, I confess that I have always liked Beatle music (singing their songs since I was a kid) & am guilty of recently buying the new release of “The White Album” (OK bought Rubber Soul too, but I didn’t have that one).

Now, this recording “Hey Jude” is not re-mastered, re-mixed, but is the raw version of “Ole Blue” my Fender Stratocaster guitar asserting himself & having me step aside of singing so that he could sing this one! So I let him & here it is!

I do intend to sing more Beatle tunes, but here is Ole Blues’ choral version.

King of the Bluz

As a performer in the “King of the Blues” event sponsored by Guitar Center, here is the music that I created, collaborating with the “Pete Anderson” backing track for “King of the Blues”!

Nothing takes place in a vaccuum, and I can hear the influence of listening to the following players in the song that I came up with: Roy Buchanan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Joe Satriani. OK... I took the path of rock blues as opposed to traditional, but that is because of my musical influences and taste.

I really am proud of this creation and want to share it! For those who enjoy this type of guitar, hope you enjoy it! This was played on my favorite guitar, “Ole Blue”, my very blue strat.
