frank Henry of the “Jameshenry band”. . .
I have always been rooted in country music. As a young boy, I fell in love with the music from great artists from that genre, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Lefty Frizzell. Too many to name! Of course that is not where it started
.My parents sent me to piano lessons. I remember my mother, (who was an accomplished violinist) telling me that the piano was the gateway to music. My parents sang in the church choir, and I joined the youth choir for several years. My parents were my foundation to the exciting world of music. I spent my high school years playing the trumpet in the school band, but shortly after high school, I went into a musical hibernation.
During this time, I started a family. My daughter Megan is the light of my life. I cant believe she is grown up! I experimented with many hobbies including golf, brewing beer, camping and many more. Many that I continue to participate in today. I immersed myself in my faith life, volunteering with the Church under the guidance of Alice Curran. I am blessed to have known and worked with her for over fifteen years now!
Many years later, I became interested in teaching myself to play the guitar. No goals other than to learn, remembering my mothers words. I began to invite a couple of friends over to play, and I learned some of the ins and outs of the guitar. I thank Jorge and Mike (the original Pearl Snaps) for pushing me to learn and reinstalling the confidence I had lost during the twenty plus years I spent away from playing/singing music. We had many a good night playing the guitars! Still do occasionally. A couple of years passed by, and I was invited to bring The Pearl Snaps to play a benefit dinner. All it took was one time to get bit by the bug again. The Texas Pearl Snaps grew into a full compliment band, and we played many venues over a two-year period. I met my partner Guy James through the The Texas Pearl Snaps. We needed a lead guitar player, and Guy jumped in to that role. Over the years, Guy and I decided we wanted to play out more often. So we took about three months off to explore musical options, build a show, and secure venues. What we came away with is a musical experience for just about everyone. Guy has helped me to realize that my music is my story. I hope that you will come out to experience the musical crossroads that is the JamesHenry Band.
See you soon!
